These are some of the questions we are most often asked:

How do I confirm a booking?

To confirm a booking, we take an immediate payment by bank transfer to Holiday Garda and then a second payment by bank transfer direct to the owners account within 7 days of the confirmation. Once we have established the dates and you have agreed to the price, let Christina know you want to confirm, and she will send you coordinates for the payments.

Is there a contract?

Yes. When you confirm a booking, you will be sent the standard contract, and you will need to sign it and return it to us by email or regular mail, together with a copy of your id document. view the standard full contract here:

Why do I have to pay to two different bank accounts?

In Italy, a short term let between a private owner and a private guest is NOT subject to VAT.
Our services, however, have to have VAT included in the price. If you were to pay all to Holiday Garda, and then we pay the owner, we would have to add VAT to all the prices.
This way, your rental is direct with the owner and your services are direct with us, and you only have to pay VAT on the services – the rent stays VAT free.

How do I know the villas are real and as described?

We work directly with all of our villas, and will never manage or promote a villa that we do not personally follow.  All of our villas are serviced by our cleaning teams, our concierge teams, and our maintenance teams.  And before they make it into our portfolio, we check them over thorougly for everything, including furnishings, appliances, electrics and water systems, quality of mattresses and linens, actual proximity to local services, etc.

That said, however, we understand that you are far away and understand that you need to be careful.  We have proof of ownership documents for every villa we manage, which we can send to you on request.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes. You can cancel a booking any time up to 60 days before your stay without any penalty. If you cancel within 60 days of your stay, the pre-payments will not be refunded. If you cancel within 30 days of your stay, all of the cost of the rental is due.

How is my damage deposit protected?

The damage deposit is paid by pre-authorisation on your credit card  (the card is authorised for the amount, but not actually charged unless there are damages)  If nothing is broken, no money is charged.

If something is broken during your stay, we will provide you with the precise cost of replacement or repair, and your deposit will be charged only for the amount of the actual damage. 

Do you have baby equipment? Does it cost extra?

Yes, we provide baby cots and high chairs.  There is no charge for the equipment itself, but there is a delivery charge of 20 euros per cot/high chair set to get them to your villa.  Cots are delivered with sheets, but do not have blankets or pillows. You need to book your baby equipment in advance, so we know to have it in the villa and prepared for your stay.

Can you help me find a buoy for my boat?

Yes. We are all local residents, and know the people, have the contacts. Let us know the size of your boat, and we will organise a buoy for you. Please note that buoys must be booked well in advance as spaces are limited, and they fill up quickly!

Can you get me a fishing license?

Yes.  With the new streamlined fishing license process, we can get you a fishing license within 24 hours of your request.  The service costs 50 euros including all taxes and license fees.

Can I pay by credit card instead of bank transfer?

You can pay the Holiday Garda service portion by credit card or by paypal instead of bank transfer.  However, the VAT exempt portion due to the owner must always be paid to their bank directly by bank transfer, otherwise the VAT exemption will be invalidated.
